Book Review: Understanding the Purpose and Power of Men

Life has been a little busy lately but thankfully, I have been able to get some days off to rest, recuperate and refuel. Before I delve into today’s topic, I’d like to inquire about your well-being, my friend. So, how are you? Have you been reading anything lately? Today, I’ll be providing a concise book review on Understanding The Purpose and Power of Men.

You might be curious as to why I selected this particular book. Well, my sister forwarded a TikTok video to me, seeking my opinion on its content. In essence, the video discussed gender roles and their significance. Given that this topic has been trending extensively in recent years, having the right perspective on it is crucial. I did have some thoughts on the video my sister shared, but I wanted to cross-reference them with insights from God’s word, which is where I derive my beliefs and views. So, as I shared my thoughts with her, I also recommended reading this book to her because I had previously skimmed through it. Also, I decided to read it myself again so as to have more knowledge on this subject.

“Understanding The Purpose and Power of Men” is a book that defines and clarifies the concept of a true man. Many people have varying notions of what a real man is, such as being tall, dark, and handsome, or being a provider and treating women with respect. However, the book sheds light on the genuine essence of a man, examining it from God’s perspective and His purpose in creating the male-man. he book also emphasizes the truth that without purpose, abuse is inevitable.  Therefore, if a man is unsure of his identity, he should seek it from his Creator, God himself. One aspect I particularly appreciate about the book is that it defines a real man not by his role but by his purpose—what God intended when He created man.

The book also delves deep into the assignments that God has bestowed upon the male man, including being a Visionary and Leader, Teacher and Cultivator, Provider and Protector. It emphasizes the importance of every male embracing their role as a true visionary, a leader, a teacher of God’s word in their home, and a cultivator of his Work, his wife and his children. Additionally, the book highlights the male’s role as a provider and protector within the household. While many view these as merely roles, the book encourages us to see them as assignments from God. This perspective reinforces the truth that the male-man (and women too!) is accountable and will give account of the assignment He has given to each and everyone.

Lastly, the book places significant emphasis on the topic of “A Man and His Sex Life,” which I found particularly insightful. The subject of sex has been distorted in various circles or overlooked in some discussions. The author stresses the importance of having the right perspective on sex, understanding its purpose, and recognizing the boundaries within which it is intended to be safe—”within the confines of marriage between a man and a woman.” The author also explores the differences in how men and women approach sex and their primary needs. Men, as outlined, primarily seek respect, recreational companionship, and sexual intimacy.

In conclusion, this book offers a well-balanced and safe perspective on understanding the power and purpose of men. I wholeheartedly recommend the book for men and women who love them.

Love,

Ayobambo
