I am always glad to bring good tidings of food to you! This Chinchin is an easy one to make(Well, asides the part where you cut the dough;) But a cutter makes it easy and fast). Whenever I am bored, I always need something to munch on and this weekend, I decided to make some Chinchin for myself. One of the perks of having this skill is that you don’t have to go out buy some of these things when you can easily make it at home. Long story short, I made chinchin this weekend and it tasted so good! You can (YES, YOU CAN) and should make yours.
Another benefit is you can add as much sugar as you want. Sometimes, I use brown sugar (which I heard is healthier) instead of white sugar. Adding egg is also not compulsory but it makes this snack softer to chew especially for children whose teeth are not strong enough yet. I hope enjoy this.
Ingredients
- 500g flour
- 100g sugar
- 1 egg
- 100g butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Milk
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder (you can use Nutmeg also)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Process
Sift the flour, baking powder into a bowl.
Add the other ingredients and mix
Add water just enough to bring the particles together and knead
Cover and leave for about 40mins to rise
Knead again and roll the dough flat on a table
Cut into small desired sizes
Heat your oil and fry until golden brown(Make sure your oil is not too hot that it burns your chinchin).
Here’s what the end product looks like..
Voila!
Let me know your thoughts.
Tips: If you do not have a scale for measuring, a cup (evaporated milk cup) is 100g. So you can count as many times to get the correct measurement. I also got a cutter to make cutting the dough easier. If you don’t have, you can use a knife. If you don’t have a rolling pin as well, you can use an empty coke bottle.
