Happy World Food Day!
This year, it’s a privilege to be alive, to celebrate, and have food despite the challenges our country faces. Food is not only a fundamental human right but also essential for life and survival. The World Food Day was established to raise awareness about global hunger, and the theme for 2024 is “The Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future.”
As I write, my thoughts are with the hungry, those without families, or struggling with food insecurity—especially in our country today. The rising cost of food has turned it into a luxury for many, even for the average person. Countless people have been affected by wars, floods, and other crises, making access to food even more difficult.
In times like these, it’s natural to wonder: What is there to celebrate when so many are struggling? But perhaps the best way to celebrate this year is by helping someone in need. Today, it’s easy to find someone nearby who is hungry. Could we be the answer to someone’s prayer, even in a small way? A cup of rice, or beans—something simple but meaningful. By giving, we can at least, attempt to alleviate hunger, spread love, and bring a smile to someone’s face.
While we may not be able to solve global hunger, we can make a difference in our own communities. Can we start by helping from where we are?
Love,
Ayobambo
