I’ve been thinking lately about how much time we invest in the things we love. You know a proof of whether you really love something is the amount of time spent (communing or studying or practising the subject) with it right? If you’re not doing just that, you’re anything other than an enthusiast!
Commitment and passion are great ingredients for becoming successful. As soon as I started thinking about this, I realized how much time and money I have been putting into buying cookbooks and food career books. For now, I can only boldly say I have read from food websites but when it comes to books, I have just one which I bought back in 2010. That’s about nine years ago. Now, a truthful question to ask myself: “Bambo, are you really passionate and committed enough?” After doing some searching, you sure know what my answer was.
With this, I have decided to be more committed by getting more food books to buy. Though I have one in mind, I would appreciate it if you share some I can get to build up a library. I stumbled on Chef Kwame some weeks back who was awarded as the winner for the James Beard Award for Rising Star Chef of the Year. I was intrigued about the fact that he’s young, black, of Nigerian descent and has a restaurant at such a young age. I also found out he wrote a book- “Notes from a young black chef“ which I am getting for myself hopefully before the month runs out.
This is also to encourage you to spend more time with those things (and people!) you say you love because a very good litmus test for love is- how much time and energy you expend on those things!
Have an inspiring Monday!
Love ya,
Ayobambo
This is so true. The quality and quantity of time and material resources invested in a thing is the determining factor of our love and passion for that thing. This informs the reason behind unattained dreams. Closely related to these factors is our focus and the consistency with which we pursue the things we love. This is highly inspiring. Thank you!
Thank you too!
Great one dear…
Your piece has well captured what I have been thinking about in days…I too realized I have been spending little time and effort on the things I love but I am committing to give more time to the things that matters most.
Thanks again.
“We” are waiting for your next post…
Glad you are thinking positively about it. Thank you!
