Snack it, till you make it!

Have you ever considered improving your snack game? Alternatively, perhaps the better question is: How often do you indulge in snacks? It’s amusing to find myself writing about snacks considering I grew up loving heavy foods. However, the significance of having a quick snack at hand has become evident to me. Especially as a sedentary worker! Not only do snacks allow for portion control, but it also serves as a lifesaver when I’m hungry.

A snack, by definition, is a light portion of food consumed between main meals. The keyword to emphasize here is ‘light.’ It’s quite preposterous to label a big bowl of Pounded Yam and Egusi Soup as a snack. While snacks offer undeniable benefits, many varieties are notorious for contributing to obesity, poor dietary habits, and related health issues. The purpose of a snack is to provide a burst of energy and regulate one’s appetite to prevent overindulgence. Nonetheless, one must be cautious not to let snacking overshadow proper meals. As a 9-5er, One of the joys of office life is sharing snacks with colleagues; these small gestures brings immense satisfaction to me.

Now, what are some office-friendly snack ideas? As someone who clocks in from 9 to 5, I can empathize with the struggle of being stranded without a snack until the end of the workday. Consequently, I’ve made it a habit to bring my own snacks from home. One of my go-to options is crackers; they provide a satisfying crunch without the guilt of sugary treats. Another favorite of mine is sliced apples paired with yogurt. I prepare this by slicing apples and dipping them in yogurt before refrigerating until snack time. As a yogurt lover, this simple yet delightful combination never fails to brighten my day. There are other options like cereal, sandwich, etc.

Whether you’re fond of snacks or not, I think it’s nice to indulge in snacks occasionally. However, not just any snack will do; it should be something that revitalizes us with a burst of energy and promotes good health.

Love,

Ayobambo
